Caldas da Raínha Pottery

It is thought that the traditional Caldas da Rainha mugs, with phallic representations, were influenced by King Luis - the Popular - who, on a visit to Caldas, asked a potter for an object that was both utilitarian and funny. This mug was meant to surprise and amuse the King's friends. In Caldeirão da Cati you can find some handicrafts from Caldas such as: the monk mug, the mug "Suck it but don’t abuse it", the football player mug and Zé Povinho "If you want to take it and do not pay, take it!"
